Due to a countywide water emergency and a current boil water mandate, Overton County Schools will be closed on Thursday, February 5 and Friday, February 6.
At this time, portions of Overton County are already without water, and officials have indicated that other areas may lose water as well while crews work to locate and repair leaks in the system. Because schools cannot safely operate without reliable access to potable water for drinking, food preparation, restrooms, and sanitation, this closure is necessary to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause for families, especially following recent weather-related closures. Please know this decision was made in close coordination with local officials and out of an abundance of caution.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate updates regarding school operations as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we prioritize the safety of our school community.

💙 National School Counseling Week | February 2–6 💙
This week, we proudly celebrate our school counselors and the incredible impact they have on our students, schools, and families.
School counselors are often the first to listen, the first to encourage, and the steady support students rely on every day—helping them navigate academics, social-emotional growth, college and career planning, and life’s challenges.
We are grateful for their compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to student success. Our schools are stronger because of you.

This winter weather has certainly tested all of us. After being out the entire week last week due to snow and ice, we regret having to make the difficult decision to close schools once again for February 3, 2026.
While many roads have improved, several shaded and secondary roads across the county remain covered with ice and snow, creating unsafe travel conditions for our students, staff, and bus drivers. Safety will always be our top priority.
We are hopeful that with temperatures rising above freezing and the possibility of rain, conditions will continue to improve. At this time, we are cautiously optimistic that we may be able to return to school on Wednesday. Our team will be out again tomorrow Feb. 3 checking road conditions to ensure it is safe before making that determination.
We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we navigate these weather challenges together. Please continue to watch for updates as we work toward getting everyone back to school safely. 💙
Stay safe and warm,
Overton County Schools
