Livingston Academy Career and Technical Education (CTE) is working alongside initiatives with the State of Tennessee to provide CTE students with the most relevant and up-to-date education to prepare them for the future whether that be post-secondary education or straight to work.

CTE students are offered dual credit opportunities through various classes. Students also have the opportunity to earn various credentials that are recognized in the world of work such as OSHA-10 and ServSafe. With Tennessee College of Applied Technology, LA students have the unique opportunity to begin their future in high school by taking classes in their chosen program at TCAT.

LA also offers a robust Work Based Learning program. With Career Practicums, students are placed in a career field of their choice to intern. Also, within this program, students may also be employed to work during school hours. In Health Science Clinical, students work with Livingston Regional Hospital in rotation with various departments observing and making connections with skills learned throughout their Health Science program of study. LA also offers school-based enterprises in which students run a business within the school.

Work Based Learning relies heavily on our community partners to support our student internships. We appreciate our valued partners that have supported our students. Just this past year, Physical Medicine Center received an Honorable Mention distinction from the State of Tennessee inaugural Tennessee Flagship Industry Partner Award.

Recently, with the Innovative School Models grant, LA CTE was able to expand our lab space into the LEAD building. This new state-of-the-art space features four labs, in which each program can put into practice what is being learned in the classroom. New equipment was also purchased to update existing equipment.
